Designed by Charles B. Mac Donald

Designed by C.B. Macdonald right after his iconic National Golf Links, Piping Rock is a masterpiece that introduced one of the most imitated features in golf: the Biarritz green. The ninth hole, with its massive 60-yard-deep green bisected by a six-foot trench, is a highlight of any round. Macdonald’s signature design elements are on full display, from the canted Redan green to the Road Hole inspired by St. Andrews. Bruce Hepner’s recent enhancements, including tree removal and reinstated cross-bunkers, have only sharpened the course’s already stellar design. For those traveling to Long Island, Piping Rock offers a journey through the origins of American golf architecture, combining historical reverence with a superb playing experience.
