Widely regarded as the birthplace of American links golf, Shinnecock Hills boasts a fascinating evolution. Originally designed by C.B. Macdonald, its layout was significantly updated by William S. Flynn in the 1930s, with much of the original architecture preserved since. The removal of trees has returned its natural, open character, enhancing the links-style feel. Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw’s subtle updates in 2012, such as green expansions and refined mowing patterns, prepared it for the 2018 U.S. Open.
